Citatet \u00e4r faktiskt s\u00e5 ber\u00f6mt att det f\u00e5tt sin alldeles egen Wikipedia-artikel<\/a>. Bonds best\u00e4llning placerade permanent martinin p\u00e5 topplistan av drinkar. Det vara bara ett problem: en Dry Martini ska ju r\u00f6ras, inte skakas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hur blev det s\u00e5 h\u00e4r? Vi ger oss p\u00e5 jakt efter Dry Martinins r\u00f6tter och hittar n\u00e5got helt annat \u00e4n en tidl\u00f6s drink. Lugn, det kommer ett recept ocks\u00e5, tids nog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manhattan, Martinez, Martini<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ju mer man l\u00e4ser om mixologi, desto mer inser man hur flytande (urs\u00e4kta) drinkv\u00e4rldens historia \u00e4r. Det finns ingen officiell historia, inga stentavlor – bara drinkbok efter drinkbok fr\u00e5n sekelskiftet utan tydliga referenser till varandra. Och m\u00e5nga fantastiska legender, som bara har ett problem – de \u00e4r antagligen inte sanna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e5gonstans i 1800-talets b\u00f6rjan var en cocktail en blandning av sprit, olika bitters och ofta socker (mer om detta i guiden till Old Fashioned<\/a>). Varje variation fick sitt eget namn och ledde till stora b\u00f6cker med m\u00e4ngder av recept, f\u00f6rvillande lika varandra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dry Martinin f\u00f6ddes ur en annan klassisk drink, Manhattan. Manhattan \u00e4r en cocktail av whisky eller bourbon, vermouth<\/a> och bitters. Ur Manhattan uppstod Martinez – en Manhattan med gin ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r whisky. Och ur Martinez kom s\u00e5 Martinin, genom att den s\u00f6ta vermouthen byttes mot torr vermouth. \u201cDry\u201d var antagligen ett f\u00f6rtydligande om att man inte skulle anv\u00e4nda sockerlag i drinken, vilket var vanligt i cocktails runt sekelskiftet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1904 beskriver Frank P Newman, bartender p\u00e5 Ritz i Paris, en Dry Martini Cocktail i sin drinkbok \u201cAmerican-Bar Recettes des Boissons Anglaises et Am\u00e9ricaine\u201d<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTa ett mixerglas och l\u00e4gg i n\u00e5gra bitar is och tre droppar angostura eller apelsinbitter. Avsluta med lika m\u00e4ngder gin och vermouth, r\u00f6r om och h\u00e4ll upp. Servera med en citronzest, ett k\u00f6rsb\u00e4r eller en oliv, enligt g\u00e4stens \u00f6nskem\u00e5l.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dry Martini kom att bli en stapelvara f\u00f6r 60-talets mad men<\/em> i reklambranschen och deras three martini lunches<\/em>. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r det lite roligt att namnet Martini kanske ocks\u00e5 \u00e4r f\u00f6tt ur en slug marknadsf\u00f6ringskampanj. Det kan n\u00e4mligen vara s\u00e5 enkelt att Martinin skapades f\u00f6r att marknadsf\u00f6ra italienska Martini & Rossis vermouth, som nyligen introducerats. Som Martini senare skulle skriva i reklamkampanjerna: \u201cIt\u2019s not a martini unless you use Martini<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr\u00e5n sina ursprungliga proportioner 1:1 mellan gin och vermouth s\u00e5 blev Dry Martinin gradvis allt torrare, dvs. mer gin och mindre vermouth. Bittern blev ocks\u00e5 mindre vanlig och n\u00e5gon g\u00e5ng efter andra v\u00e4rldskriget hade Dry Martini antagit sin moderna form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hur var det nu med Bond & martinin d\u00e5? Jo precis som Ian Fleming sj\u00e4lv gjorde f\u00f6redrar Bond sin Dry Martini ”shaken, not stirred”<\/em> – en s.k. Bradford Martini. Detta st\u00e5r i strid med det klassiska receptet d\u00e4r man r\u00f6r med is. Att skaka med is sp\u00e4der ut drinken mer och s\u00e4gs av m\u00e5nga snarare f\u00f6rst\u00f6ra smaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Varf\u00f6r Fleming trots detta f\u00f6redrog skakade martinis \u00e4r inte helt klart. Han spenderade en tid i Moskva som reporter, och det ska ha varit d\u00e4r han fick smak p\u00e5 martinis gjorda med vodka. Kanske dolde kylningen och utvattningen smaken av s\u00e4mre vodka – eller var det bara en av Flemings egenheter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I b\u00f6ckerna dricker Bond sin Dry Martini med b\u00e5de gin och vodka som bas, men p\u00e5 vita duken valde man att renodla det till vodka. Redan i f\u00f6rsta filmen, Dr. No., dricker Bond tv\u00e5 Vodka Martini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Den som kan sin Bond vet ocks\u00e5 att han \u00e4ven uppfinner en egen variant med gin och<\/em> vodka, tillsammans med Lillet Blanc. Den \u00e4r k\u00e4nd som Vesper martini<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
